Jemima Goldsmith appeals to PM Shehbaz Sharif regarding her sons’ visit to Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD – Jemima Goldsmith, former spouse of Imran Khan, made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday, urging him to allow her sons, Kasim and Suleiman Khan, to visit their incarcerated father at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
Kasim and Suleiman, who reside in London, have applied for Pakistani visas since January. Jemima highlighted on X that despite promises from Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and the PM’s spokesperson Mosharraf Zaidi, their visa applications remain unprocessed after 60 days, far exceeding the typical 7–10 working days for online processing.
Jemima emphasized that the boys have been unable to speak to their father by phone or letters, and have not seen him since 2022 following an assassination attempt. She stressed the urgency, citing reports of Imran Khan’s declining health.
When approached for comment, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar dismissed the matter, saying “there are more important issues in the world now.”
Previous statements from government officials have raised conditions for entry, including refraining from political activity. The visa delay has drawn public attention, highlighting ongoing tensions surrounding the family of the former Prime Minister and their access to him while he remains imprisoned.
